LOCKHEED MARTIN, BETHESDA, MARYLAND > American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer / October 2012 - Lockheed Martin participated for the third year in a row in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Washington, DC! The team was 10 members strong and consisted of both hourly and management staff. We hosted a bake sale and participated in a property-wide BINGO contest to raise donations.
BARDESSONO, YOUNTVILLE, CA - The Yountville Chamber of Commerce and the Veterans Home of California hosted the 8th annual Celebrity Chefs Veterans Day Luncheon on November 1st, 2012. This luncheon of gourmet food and Napa Valley wine happened due to the generosity and support of Bardessono's Hometown Hospitality inititatives in the community.
Victor Scargle along with Tedd Romero of Lucy's Restaurant & Bar at Bardessono, prepared Toasted Guava Brioche Pudding, Lucy's Candy Bacon, and Maple Cream. They participated in the event along with other chefs in the community of Yountville to make this event possible.

EAGLEWOOD RESORT & SPA, Itasca, IL - Eaglewood employees partnered with Phil’s Friends to bring hope to cancer patients. This is just one of Benchmark’s Eaglewood Hometown Hospitality Events in 2012-2013. Employees put care packages together, decorated care boxes and addressed letters to patients to help with the outreach in the community.
Phil’s Friends is an organization that provides support and comfort to those
who are fighting cancer. They distribute care packages to cancer patients
and their families. They hold fund-raising events such as the Annual Walk-A-Thon as well as concerts with Avalon, 33 Miles, and Mark Schultz. They are a National Chapter and accept volunteers to help cancer patients and their families across the country.
CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN RESORT, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Cheyenne Mountain Resort participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on September 15th, 2012. All participants gather at America the Beautiful Park and enjoy breakfast while hearing the touching stories of those families affected by this terrible disease.
Participants have the choice of running a 5K or walking for 3 miles. Thirty employees and family members made up the team from Cheyenne Mountain Resort and raised approximately $3,000. This will be the second year Cheyenne Mountain has participated in this wonderful event!
ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa, Miami Beach, FL – In October of 2012, 29 employees of ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa participated in the 5K run or a 2K Walk for Susan G Komen. The Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Affiliate of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front.
Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa is a proud sponsor of this event annually in South Florida.
BENCHMARK HOSPITALITY INTERNATIONAL, THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Culture Committee of Benchmark Hospitality International worked in the fall season to support the local women’s shelters for the Holidays. The annual Handbags of Hope of Montgomery, Texas was started two years ago to help local Montgomery County area women that live at the battered women's shelters.
These women generally do not receive any gifts for Christmas and most have little to nothing in the way of personal possessions; as most have fled from their homes in fear for their's and/or their children's safety. The children also enjoy this event, as they are given the opportunity to choose a purse to give to their Mother for their gift. The employees of Benchmark Hospitality worked to collect donations of toiletries, gifts, and needed items to be delivered in beautiful purses and handbags to give to the women in need. This is a meaningful occasion to the children, as most have no means to give gifts to their family during the holiday season.
