Long known for a unique level of expertise in producing productive, flawless meetings, the Benchmark University Collection is continually evolving to meet client needs in a changing environment.

An increasingly important aspect of the modern meeting is the ability to produce high quality hybrid meetings, without the concerns surrounding technological shortcomings. There is growing demand for meetings where a portion of the participants are on site in a safe, socially distanced meeting room set while other attendees are connecting virtually from around the country or world.

At Benchmark University Collection, we continue to design innovative meeting settings, invest in new technology and provide the training needed for our teams to execute flawless hybrid meetings.  Sales, planning and technology team members work closely with our clients from the initial fact-finding call to final execution. Detailed information on a wide array of health and safety protocols is always at the forefront. Using the latest event space diagramming tools, meting spaces are designed to accommodate distancing guidelines and the flow of attendees in and out of the various functions. Our technology teams are available to all groups and can provide a comprehensive orientation to the audio-visual system or full-service, in-room technical production and support.

At the same time, we recognize the need to keep costs line and help create a return on every dollar invented in meetings, those fully on-site and hybrid. At many of our resorts, hotels and conference centers, advanced, typically built-in technology is included within creatively designed complete and day meeting packages. All audio-visual offerings include an orientation to use. Services and pricing for full in-room A/V production are tailored to our clients’ needs and quoted in full at the time of booking.
Here are just a few examples of the facilities and services available at our university destinations:

The Inn at Virginia Tech & Skelton Conference Center, Blacksburg, VA:

The Inn team has re-designed four of its meetings rooms with the same equipment and capabilities found in the University’s leading-edge classrooms. A long list of specialized equipment includes front and rear-facing pan/tilt/zoom cameras, 4 ceiling microphones with 360 degree pick up, AirMedia presentation system enabling presenters to connect wirelessly from anywhere and dedicated, high bandwidth connectivity.

David Rubenstein Forum at the University of Chicago:

Designed as a purpose-built venue to host exceptional meetings, the Forum provides an on-site meeting concierge and team of hospitality/technology professionals to guide clients through seamless hybrid meeting experiences. Advanced capabilities include built-in audio-visual equipment/connectivity, live broadcasting capacities through 24-strand fiber home runs, multi-camera recording options, mobile video conferencing/projection resources, and enhanced security for special guests.  Multiple meeting rooms feature Plexwood sound-absorbing walls, eliminating reverb and optimizing these spaces for spoken word.

Take Your Meetings Outside

February 1, 2021

To complement 2021 virtual and hybrid meetings The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center recently completed a $3.9 million renovation of The Pine Room restaurant and further expanded outdoor venue offerings at the historic property.  A stunning highlight of the renovation features a new stone patio space overlooking downtown that is perfect for private receptions, meet and greets, and group dining functions. The hotel also invested in new top of the line fire pits and outdoor patio heaters to create an almost year-round opportunity and encourage groups to experience outside events.

This new space complements the hotel's additional patios and outdoor spaces including the Garden Courtyard. Perfect for larger groups and social distancing, The Garden Courtyard features 6,270 sq. feet of multi-dimensional space, seating for up to 250 guests, a focal point gazebo that is perfect for numerous applications, as well as a designated lounge area surrounded by the beautiful garden plantings and the warmth of a cozy fire. Other outdoor spaces include the Pool Area, North Entry Courtyard and Lower Level Courtyards.

These spaces combined offer the perfect opportunity to change scenery while weaving in the historic setting of the hotel, coupled with creative food and beverage that are deliciously destination-focused.
